2009 Season Update
The 2009 Pabst Blue Ribbon Philadelphia Rock Paper Scissors City League Championship Series begins a week from today – on April 20th.
First off, the PBRPRPSCLCS would like to welcome back Pabst Blue Ribbon as the Title Sponsor for the 4th year running. Jim Beam has returned as an Offical Sponsor and the PBRPRPSCLCS would like to welcome Whole Foods Market as an Official Sponsor for the first time in 2009.
There are a few notes for returning players and new players alike:
-The PBRPRPSCLCS has received several complaints regarding the historically late start times of PBRPRPSCLCS tournaments. The any tournament will start this year is 15 minutes after the scheduled time for competition to begin. New competitors may be allowed throughout the first round at the discretion of the ref, but this is not guranteed. Please note: there may be rare instances where the host venue requests that the start time be delayed (i.e. can you wait until the Flyers playoff game is over) and these requests will be honored.
-Regarding other complaints the PBRPRPSCLCS has received: 2 of the 3 venues this year are non-smoking. The Dive still has an exemption from the smoking ban.
-All tournaments with the exception of the final week of the season will be capped at 32 players.
-The Championship will be held June 13th at Connie’s Ric Rac.
The schedule is as follows:
Mondays (except Memorial Day) – The Raven Lounge (Samson between 17 & 18). This is an early one for folks who like to hit the sack (and the Pabst Blue Ribbon) early. Registration at 7 and competition at 7:30.
Tuesdays – Dirty Franks (13th and Pine). Registration at 9 and competition at 9:30.
Wednesdays – scheduled as an off day at the moment. I would consider training another ref to run a tournament at a new venue on Wednesdays. If you are interested e-mail urbanus(at)rpscityleague(dot)com.
