Billy Shears Celebrates His Birthday With Victory! Ties Season Win Record at The Dive!

Billy Shears (far left with Pabst Blue Ribbon) of the Majestic 12 made Rock Paper Scissors City League history on two counts on Friday at the (aptly named) Dive.  1st – he became the 1st player in City League history to celebrate his birthday with a victory (El Toro Papaya came close two weeks ago) and 2nd – tied the record Loomer set last year with 4 tournament victories in a season.  It was an all Majestic 12 final (and final 4 for that matter) as Billy Shears defeated new member Diggs Darklighter in a thriller and then everyone sang happy birthday to the Champ.  It was kind of sweet, but mostly just noisey and many were happy when the song was over.

Vertical Paper (above, with a bunch of Street RPS money) of the Majestic 12 dove headfirst into the Street RPS competition on the night and didn’t slip up on his way to a 70-68 victory over new Good the Bad and the Ugly member Dirty Bird (not to be confused with the Dirty Bird who used to play for the Swiss Army).  His training partner Pat Paper lost his footing in the 2nd round of competition, but he proclaimed confidently that he would be back and then followed the Street Champ quickly down the stairs and then out the door.

Clarification: The referee was under the impression that the Majestic 12 had put up a perfect team score on the night, but it was actually 19 out of 24.  Biggs Darklighter was serving a provisional probation as it was the first night he had been technically added to their roster and the Street Champ was not one of the final four players.  Still, 19 out of 24 is pretty good.
