Paper Tiger Takes the Lead With a Win at Teri’s!
The Paper Tiger (at left) returned to the Championship round for already the 3rd time so far in this very early part of the 2011 season. There he faced last year’s 2nd place winner, Zombie Llama of Team David Bowie’s Package. Zombie Llama jumped out to a very quick 2 match to 0 lead and then proclaimed “here’s where the meltdown starts”. And wouldn’t you know it, that’s exactly what happened! The Paper Tiger came back to win the next 3 matches and take home his 2nd Championship this year. The PBRPRPSCLCS historical bureau is also pretty sure it’s the first time the Paper Tiger has won more than one tournament in any given season.
That win puts him in the lead for total points so far in 2011 by three points over Dick Nasty. It’s the first time Paper Tiger has been in the lead since he finished on top in 2006. Of course, back then there was no prize for total points except losing to the lowest seed and eventual Champion Johnny Goodtimes at the 2006 Championship.
Speaking of Mr. Nasty, he won the street RPS championship yet again, which is really helping keep him in it at the top of the leaderboard. It also marked the first time that someone tried using counterfeit/old Street RPS dollars not realizing that each night’s money is marked! It was pretty easy to figure out the offender once the money was turned in.
The lessons learned at Teri’s: 1) the PBRPRPSCLCS is always watching and 2) the ref shouldn’t leave a bunch of street money from the night before in a bucket unattended.
