Sweetji Breaks the Code at the Raven for All of England to See!

The crew from a new BBC show The Code was on hand for a packed house at the Raven Lounge in week 4 (PBR and Yelp Philly were there too!).  They even entered The Professor into the competition, who is Simonyi Professor for the Public Understanding of Science and Professor of Mathematics at Oxford University and was attempting to use math to do well at RPS (you can wait to see the show to find out what his method was). The Professor did pretty well, winning 2 out of 3 which I hear isn’t bad.  Dick Nasty made his lifelong (I think) dream of beating an Oxford University Professor on British TV come true when he took him out in the final 8.

But that would be the highlight of the night for Dick Nasty, since he lost to dOGulas in the final 4.  That set up the dOGman up against Sweetji in the finals and Sweetji really took it to him.  She won 3 sets to 0, and should be the RPS toast of BBC 2 in the fall.

It was the first time Sweetji won an in-season tournament, although she has won both March off-season ones the past two years.  Also, there were a lot of fouls last night.  I mean A LOT.  The PBRPRPSCLCS understands there were TV cameras, but you’re professionals people!

Hey!  That’s not Dick Nasty over there!  That’s right, the streak has ended for at least one night.  Instead, J. Martin Hill (at right) of the Ernie Vanderbilt School of Games and Wagers LLC put his studies of both games and wagers to good use by winning the Street RPS tournament.  It was a tight one, but Mr. Hill pulled it off by a score of 85-79-74 with the 2nd and third runners up being PJ Rhymeswithsausage and Frankie 13.  Mr. Hill was so pleased with this result that he’s taking the rest of the month off and won’t  return to play RPS until June.
