Mako’s has Moved!

So the tournament tonight (as well as Mako’s itself) has moved to the old Blarney Stone location at 328 South, which is pretty much right across the street from where it was originally. Don’t worry, since the old Mako’s at 3rd and South will have signs up telling you where to go anyways.

As happens pretty much every fall, the PBRPRPSCLCS internet tournament update task force has slacked off posting the results of the past few tournaments. Those responsible have been suspended for neglecting their duties, and have just returned from suspension so they can get back to work on those updates they never posted. So stay tuned!

But in the meantime rest assured that people did win tournaments that did actually happen (it was Paper Tiger and The Ultimate Bad Guy) just as someone will probably win a tournament this coming Tuesday (10/18/11) at Mako’s Retired Surfers Bar and Grill (3rd and South). Signup starts at 8 and competition will be around 8:45. It’s usual off-season rules. $3 entry fee. Street winner gets a special prize (that means no one knows what that prize is yet).

PBRPRPSCLCS Leadership has Returned! And There’s RPS Tonight!

Oops. The IT department is still overseas so this post is a little late, but there’s RPS tonight (Tuesday 9/20) at Dirty Franks (13th and Pine). Registration starts at 9 and competition around 9:45. But if you were Facebook friends with your commish you’d already know that.

For those players who did not know, the entire PBRPRPSCLCS office has been offered an invitation (and very graciously accepted along with Master Roshambollah) to visit Philadelphia’s RPS sister city, Darwin, NT in Australia.

Updates have and will cease until September. But the August tournament was really awesome and that’ll all be cleared up when we get back to the office.

Postponed Tounament Rescheduled for Thursday 8/4 at Ray’s!

The tournament that was canceled last week (the first one the PBRPRPSCLCS has ever had to cancel on account of illness) will be held on Thursday, August 4th. All the details remain the same.

Signups start at 8:30 and competition around 9:15. $3 to play.

RPS is Back! Silly Putty’s Birthday Tournament at Ray’s Happy Birthday Bar 7/27!

What do you know – it’s already time for the 1st post-Championship 2011 off season tournament since Paper Tiger won the 2011 title and then we all (well everyone who works here anyway) took a month and a half off. This isn’t just an off-season tournament – it’s also a RPS birthday party for 2009 bronze medalist (and The Good, The Bad & The Ugly co-captain along with 2011 Champion Paper Tiger) Silly Putty. She asked for it and she got it! What a good Commissioner she has!

It’s usual off-season rules. It’s at Ray’s Happy Birthday Bar (it is Silly Putty’s birthday). This is a smoking bar and it’s at Passyunk and Federal. This is a little short notice, but it’s this coming Wednesday, July 27. Registration starts at 8:30 and competition starts around 9:15. $3 entry fee. There’s a $20 “gift certificate” for the street winner.

Paper Tiger wins 2011 PBRPRPSCLCS Title! Championship Match Video Included! Updated With Pictures!

The Paper Tiger beat Rossi in a classic of a championship match, winning with both players at match point in the 5th and final set.

2008 Champ Mr. Is finished 3rd and PJ Rhymeswithsausage won the Street tournament.

2011 PBRPRPSCLCS Championship Details

The details for tomorrow’s Championship at Connie’s Ric Rac (1132 S. 9th Street – right next to Thursday’s venue Teri’s). Doors open at 7:00 and we will start the Championship at 8:30.

If you qualified it’s free to get in. Give your RPS name at the door and they’ll let you through.
If someone is coming who did not qualify it’s $10 to get in. Everyone who comes in gets street bucks and is eligible for the street RPS prize and drink specials that are in effect
Speaking of prizes – 1st place gets $1000, 2nd place $250 , 3rd place $50 and Street winner $100
Specials most likely are $2 PBR pounders and the RPS Special (PBR pounder and Jim Beam) for $4. You get extra Street Bucks when you buy a special, just like regular season play.
The staff at Connie’s Ric Rac is in charge of the crowd. If they think you’ve done something wrong or are acting inappropriately they will ask that you leave EVEN IF YOU ARE STILL IN THE TOURNAMENT. Their decisions are final and can’t be appealed. So keep it friendly.
All matches are decided by the end of season standings (1 plays 64, 2 plays 63, etc.). If you have to play a teammate in the first round or anywhere thereafter that’s just the way it goes.
End of season prizes will be distributed at the Championship.
