The opening reception is tonight from 7-10, so stop by and check it out. You may see a few familiar faces there (all the PBRPRPSCLCS regular season refs will be on hand at some point) and some pretty good art.

League players may not realize this, but Tina the Boy from the team Sh*tcaked Toiletbowl is quietly putting together a pretty good season. He won for the 2nd time in four tries in 2010 (last time he won the tourney and street) at the final tournament of the season at Dirty Franks. He went up against Harper Lee (now of the Dirty Cut Posse, formerly of the Paper Cut Posse, and of course before that a founding member of the Ernie Vanderbilt College of Gaming and Wagers, LLC). Tina the Boy wasted little time in the finals (it was late) and dispatched Harper Lee in a three match to zero victory. If Tina the Boy’s current trend continues (win, second round loss, final four loss, win) and he plays the rest of the week and at the Championship, then the other players better watch out.

Blah blah blah B-Pac won Street blah blah blah.

Oh, but this is exciting! He’s now turned in over $1000 in Street money. That blows everyone’s mind. He’ll have won more fake money during the season than he can possibly win in real money at the Championship (wherever that championship may be).

The ref, who isn’t always good at remembering things, thought it was the biggest crowd during the regular season in a while. But while it was the highest turnout of the season, it’s only been about a year since there were 44 players at Dirty Franks week 7 of 2009.

Speaking of old-timers, The Majestic 12 returned to active duty last night and the Scissors Blizzard won the Street Rock Paper Scissors tournament over Dick Nasty by a score of 98-79. Word on the street is that there’s a good chance that we’ll see the MJ-12 (and perhaps even Turbo) at the 2010 City League Championships now that they have come off the “indefinite hiatus” list.

Martin Hill at The Dive last week), this one against Von Damonator for the win. In fact, Von Damonator didn’t even score a point until Bill was already at match point in the Championship match. Bill is off to quite a good start for his Philly RPS career and the 2010 season – he’s played four times, but he’s currently all the way up to #18 in the standings. To put in in perspective, that’s higher up than any member of Team Feed the Pony, who have combined for 21 appearances so far this season.

B-Pac was not in attendance, so that gave the rest of the field a chance to try to catch up a little on his ridiculous Street RPS totals for the season. Sir Faust (at left) took advantage and won on the night with a score of 145. From the look of things a big money win against Jazz Handz (who got a red card in regular competition) at the end was the nail in the coffin for all other Street RPS competitors. The extra two points also supplied enough to cause a three-way tie at the top of the current standings. RPS Speedwagon teammates Sir Faust, Neutral Finger and Dick Nasty all curently have 56.

Sir Faust (newly shiny!) upped his lead in total points so far by winning the most Street bucks on the night. He won 65-55 over Uhne Brunen who made a slight mistake as far as points go by declining the opportunity to play for it. Also – for the first time there were recirculated Street dollars! These were not included in the totals of the offender/offenders. Don’t think your referees aren’t on the lookout for these.

And in other news, Frankie Thirteen donned a blindfold and took on Joe McB in a full-on Hustler-style match and came out on top 10-0. Frankie Thirteen is considering playing blindfolded all the time now.

Also, Herricane Morales played last night as a part of a group of rookies that all lost in the first round. Take a listen and maybe they’ll return to play again this season.

Hand Turkey (at right, with magical Pabst Blue Ribbon cans that pour out enchanted bubbles) got his first win of the season at Dirty Franks this week. He met up with Joe McB of Blacksmith’s Apron in the finals and took a quick two match lead, only to see a desperate Mr. McB come right back and tie it up at two matches each. A crowd-pleasing fifth and final set was decided only on the final throw as Hand Turkey’s Paper covered up Joe McB’s ill-timed Rock. Hand Turkey credits “not being on a team anymore” as the primary reason he was focused enough to pull of the victory. Despite no longer being called The Paper Cut Posse Featuring Hand Turkey, The Dirty Cut Posse are no doubt quite proud of Hand Turkey and his victory. This, in turn, no doubt annoys the Hand Turkey.

Sir Faust won the Street RPS on a night where there wasn’t a whole lot of Street money in circulation for some reason. Sir Faust left before the final count, but luckily he’s won plenty so far this season, so there’s a picture of him (to your left) from earlier in the season.

Also of note: The quickest crowd turnaround in perhaps any sport took place last night in round one. When General Disarray took the stage last night almost all the people on hand cheered wildly (this confused at the very least one referee). As soon as he won the first throw against Harper Lee, the crowd then immediately turned against him and stayed that way for the rest of the match. Totally weird.

(formerly Danny Awesome!) shocked all the competitors, spectators, and referees (note: possibly also God him/herself) combined at Dirty Franks by winning the first tournament of his young RPS career. It was his 2nd appearance ever in the finals and Danny Taser! (formerly this Rock is a Pipe Bomb) was matched against relative newcomer Philly Phil.

In a match that looked a lot like the finals at The Dive last week, Danny Taser! (formerly This Barack is a Hope Bomb) took an almost insurmountable lead, choked it away pretty quickly (much like his last finals appearance), looked again like he had it in the bag but didn’t, and then finally claimed that elusive victory with everything tied up in the final throw of 5 sets. Needless to say, it was pretty exciting. Congrats to the victor – it’s always good to get that first win under your belt.

On a side note: Danny Taser! was the only member of the Chums of Chutney there on the night, but they’ve had representatives at four tournaments this year and won three of them. Other teams – beware the Chums when you see them!

In other Dirty Franks RPS news, B-Pac has won yet another Street RPS championship, making it three so far this season. He turned in a mighty 156 with the next closest at 45. That six extra points so is really helping him stay within striking distance of point leader and teammate Sir Faust. In fact, the top four spots are currently all occupied by members of RPS Speedwagon, who are off to quite a good start in 2010.

Enrico Pallatzo (at right in the middle of team picture) of team Blacksmith’s Apron claimed the first victory of his career (as well as the first ever for his team) in week two at Dirty Franks. He took down the Denominator in the finals. In a trend that has been consistant in the finals all season, it wasn’t even close. Enrico Pallatzo won 3 matches to 0 and the outcome was never remotely in doubt.

Sir Faust (of RPS Speedwagon) followed up a tournament victory on Monday with a Street RPS victory on Tuesday. He played so well he didn’t even have to wait until the tournament was over to turn in his fake money and still double up his closest competitor. This, in addition to a round three loss at Dirty Franks, has given Sir Faust a pretty nice 13 points so far this week and puts him one point ahead of his teammate the Neutral Finger at this early point in the 2010 season.

In team news, the Paper Cut Posse Featuring Hand Turkey and the Dirty Dozen have merged to form the Dirty Cut Posse (note lack of Hand Turkey). The DCP is now the offical house team at Dirty Franks.

Ziro (pictured at right with the other Lone Wolf), made it to the finals for the first time ever the first week of the 2010 Rock Paper Scissors season at Dirty Franks and he didn’t mess around. He met up with the highly favored Le Tigre in the finals, who had yet to give up even one point throughout the qualifying rounds.

But how quickly the tide turned as Ziro tamed the tiger in a blowout 3-0 match win, allowing Le Tigre scored only one point total.

Ziro’s roomate Dick Nasty took home the street prize, more than doubling up his closest competitor on the night (said competitor mistakenly thought they had enough to win it and didn’t want to chance one final match). That made it the 2nd street win the first week for the new team RPS Speedwagon.

In other news, rumor had it that the Paper Cut Posse Featuring Hand Turkey was on the verge of dissolving or merging with another team. But it seems that the return of J. Martin Hill and Harper Lee from the horribleness of Gaithersburg, Maryland embiggened the spirit and a little recruitment has left a new look PCPFHT looking pretty strong for 2010. Even if Hand Turkey (now named Lone Rogue) has renounced his membership.

Billy Shears (above – proving that girls really dig guys who are good at Rock Paper Scissors) Took the title at the last tournament this season at Dirty Franks. In the process, as you read in the headline, he overtook his Majestic 12 teammate Loomer for the total points (he’s up by 4) and won his fifth tournament in a single season which braeks the old record of 4, which Loomer did both this year and in 2008. Billy Shears took down promising rookie I am Not Afraid from the team S*itcaked Toiletbowl in a match that was really, really good and was only determined with everything tied up at 1 in the 5th and final match.

The Fighting Mongooses of the Majestic 12 (not pictured) won the Street RPS tournament again after leaving mid-competition again. That’s the 3rd time this year that particular strategy paid off for him and he won by a score of 99-81 over runner-up Bus Daddy dOGulas. The Majestic 12 were so happy they made it rain with all Grim Trigger’s condoms (above) except Loomer, who just stood patiently.
