There are 9 tournaments left (spread out over the next 2 1/2 weeks).  Don’t forget that you need at least 5 appearances in a season (The Johnny Goodtimes rule) to be invited.

If you don’t want to play at the Championship and just want to get some RPS in before the season ends then you’re good.  Check the schedule for all the info.

This may be very crowded, and some people may show up exactly at 7.  If you want to play tonight then the PBRPRPSCLCS recommends showing up closer to 7 than 7:30.  In a worst case scenario, if the tournament bracket grows too large there may have to be a cap placed on the number of players competing.

Also, we’re hearing that the BBC will not be the only media snooping around the Raven Lounge tonight.

Signup starts at 8:30 and the tournament at 9.  Your usual ref will be back in effect after letting J. Martin Hill take over (and take over quite well) last week.

Week 4.  Go!

Here’s some news & notes as we wrap up week one.

1. On Mondays at The El Bar competition will need to start at the time it is scheduled to.  Signup starts at 8:30 and we need to get the competition rolling at 9.  I know the on-site administration is sometimes lax about sticking to schedule, but on Mondays we will have to.  If you arrive after the 1st round starts there are no guarantees that you will be able to play.
2. Monday night ran a little late last week, partially because of the late start.  That’ll get tightened up and the PBRPRPSCLCS isn’t going to wait for the hockey game to end anymore to start the RPS competition.
3. Last thing about Mondays – if you’re going outside to smoke at The El Bar, please go out on the back patio and not in front of the bar.  The back patio is actually really awesome.
4. Wednesdays at the Raven Lounge are going to be on the 2nd floor this season.
5. Don’t forget that the standings include the early bonus points from the last off-season tournament.  That’s why some have credit for 5 tournaments even though there have only been 4 so far during the eason.
6. J. Martin Hill has quit the Blackout Motherf*ckers after playing for them 3 times this week.  Apparently the Ernie Vanderbilt College of Games and Wagers LLC is returning next week under the direction of Ernie Vanderbilt himself!  Click here to read all about it in the press release.

Unfortunately the Thunder were eliminated from the playoffs after a great regular season (I’ve seen that before, right Billy Shears?).  But word has it there may be an even bigger and better RPS event going on up there in 2011.  One that may get people to travel 40 minutes away from Philadelphia!  Stay tuned!

Former Majestic 12 team captain Loomer (he of a lifetime 69-36 record with 9 tournament wins) rolled into town  from Japan for a hot second a little while ago.  So his former teammates did what former teammates should do and set up the 1st annual Loomeypoo Invitational.  The outcome was pretty predictable, really.  The final four came down to Scissors Blizzard, Billy Shears, 2009 Silver Medalist Crimson Destroyer and Loomer.  Loomer took it to the house on Billy Shears and then dumped ‘em out on Scissors Blizzard in the finals.

All in all, the Loomeypoo Invitational was a fine time with plenty of RPS, Pabst Blue Ribbon and entertainment by PBRPRPSCLCS Championship House band Turbo.  See you next year, Loomeypoo!
